Was this other stallion Dutch-bred? The Germans may make the best automobiles, but the Dutch absolutely breed the very best Friesians in the World!
What was this other stallion's rating at his Keuring? Only the top 5% of all Friesians keured in Holland receive the 1st Premium rating. Why would you settle for anything less for your mare and future foal? Friesians are judged by the Dutch on natural, God-given, conformation and movement. If the stallion you are considering does not have 1st or 2nd Premium conformation and movement, he will almost certainly NOT throw the very best conformation and movement possible into your foals.
Was this other stallion Keured in Holland and how did he rate against the best? There are only a hand full of large keurings in Holland each year, meaning that there are only a hand full of true Grand Champions each year. Ice Man proved himself to be the best of the best at his keuring, bettering 18 other 1st Premiums and 225 others total. Keurings in the U.S. just don't stack up regarding level of competition and number of competitors.

I called Deb at Friesian Harts of Texas on Monday, Feb. 28th to let her know my mare was ready to breed. She immediately dropped everything, hooked up her trailer, loaded Ice Man, and transported him to the vet for collection. Dr. Garza at Southwest HIlls Veterinary Hospital collected him Tuesday morning, put the shipment on the first flight to D/FW airport and we were able to inseminate my mare Tuesday evening, again on Wednesday, and the last time on Thursday.
